Most Harmful Obesity Health Risks

Decades of research and medical know-how have established how much obesity is detrimental to health. The annual cost is in the tens of billions in the US for all the associated problems linked to obesity. You can also include the multi-billion dollar annually expended for diet related products. The US is slowly gaining more overweight with each passing year, or so it seems. Of course the food and drink industry does not help things. There is obviously no secret that a great number of foods consist of high sugar and fat content. We only have room for a few of the obesity health risks in this article.

Obesity Health Risks: Joints Problem

One of the most common and widespread obesity health risks is joints problem.The focal points are the weight bearing joints like hips, knees and ankles.Osteoarthritis is often seen in these situations as well due to damage to the joint. While there are many who receive joint replacements, a patient with normal weight conditions has a greater chance for good results.  Overweight person do not always make the best candidates for artificial joints.There are inherent risks if surgery takes place due to the mechanics of the overall situation.The additional weight may cause the joint to become loose thus further damaging the adjoining bone.

Obesity Health Risks: High Blood Pressure

The risk is greater for an overweight person to develop blood pressure complications. Possessing those extra weights can severely strain the entire body. Body fats are living tissues and they too require vital oxygen and other nutritional needs. These causes the heart to work much harder so it can deliver what is required. High blood pressure is a direct result of this extra demand caused by the additional weight. Another typical outcome is raise heart rate due to the higher workload.

Obesity Health Risks: Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes would be another product of obesity. There are more new cases each year.  This diabetes type was mainly developed in adults. Today more teens are found to be clinically obese and the disease has also caught up with this age group! Obesity is known to cause insulin resistance which is a precursor to higher levels of blood sugar. The problem is made much worse with daily consumption of food items with excessive amounts of sugar. This seems to be the case although various programs to educate the public on the danger of high fructose corn syrup in many soft drinks and other widespread beverages. There is simply no comparison between high fructose corn syrup and processed sugar.

Obesity Health Risks: High Risk State

Obesity puts the entire body in a high risk state for a wide variety of health conditions. There are a lot more similarly dangerous disorders that can easily be a consequence of an overweight condition.
